What your page says
How to use this keyword density checker
- Paste your page text into the box.
- Add your target keyword if you want to check it.
- Switch between single words, two words and three words to see what the text is really about.
Who it is for
For writers and SEO specialists checking a draft for accidental repetition, or for whether the main topic actually comes through.
Density is a symptom, not a target
There is no magic percentage. Google stopped counting keywords in any simple way a long time ago. What this tool is genuinely useful for is different: it shows you what your page is actually about, stripped of everything you assumed.
Paste a page you wrote about dental implants and find that "team", "experience" and "years" top the list. That is the real finding. The page is about your practice, not about what the reader wants.
What to look for
- Your main phrase should appear in the top few. Not fifty times — just present.
- Two and three-word phrases matter more than single words. "Marketing" tells you nothing. "Performance marketing agency" tells you the page has a subject.
- Nothing over about 3.5%. Above that it starts to read badly, and readers leaving early hurts you far more than any density rule.
Where the phrase actually needs to be
Position beats repetition. One mention in each of these places is worth more than ten scattered through the body:
- The page title
- The H1
- The first 100 words
- At least one subheading
- The image alt text, if it fits naturally
Common questions
How do I calculate keyword density?
Divide the number of times the keyword appears by the total words, then multiply by 100. A phrase used 10 times in 1,000 words has 1% density. Treat this as a check rather than a target.
What is a good keyword density?
There is no correct figure. Anywhere between about 0.5% and 2.5% happens naturally in well-written copy. Write for the reader and the density looks after itself.
Does keyword stuffing still get you penalised?
Outright stuffing can. But the bigger everyday cost is that stuffed copy reads badly, so people leave, and pages people leave quickly do not hold their rankings.
Why hide words like "the" and "and"?
Because they are the most common words in any English text and tell you nothing. Untick the box if you want the raw counts.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The counting happens in your browser. Nothing leaves your computer.
